De Reuck: Sundowns Sign Defender From Fellow PSL Side Martizburg

Mamelodi Sundowns have signed defender Rushine De Reuck from fellow South Africa Premier Soccer League side Maritzburg United.

Mamelodi Sundowns have signed defender Rushine De Reuck from fellow South Africa Premier Soccer League side Maritzburg United.

The 25-year-old defender, who previously played for Cape Town-based outfit Hellenic FC, joins the Brazilians on a five-year deal.

The current Premiership Defender of the Season will now be part of their CAF Champions League, whose registration is set to be closed on Sunday.

“This is something I’ve always wanted for myself. Sundowns have been the best club in South Africa for a long time and I want to be part of that. I am really really excited!” De Reuck told the club’s official website.

De Reuck becomes the third key figure to leave Maritzburg, after Richard Ofori’s big move to Orlando Pirates and Siyanda Xulu’s departure to Israel.

He was tied to a long-term contract in December 2019, so it meant Maritzburg has pocketed a large sum in terms of the transfer fee.

De Reuck will be reunited with two former teammates Lebohang Maboe and Brian Onyango who he played alongside during his time at the Team of Choice.
