The world cycling governing body, Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) has announced the dates of 2021 cycling season.

The 2021 Tour du Rwanda will begin on February 21 and end on February 28, according to the race organizers.

The Tour de Rwanda was originally due to begin in Kigali on November before it was postponed due to the global spread of coronavirus.

Tour du Rwanda, which was upgraded to a 2.1 race category last year, attracts many UCI World Tour Teams and UCI professional continental teams, as well as UCI continental and national teams.

Until 2008 competition as a regional cycling race that brought together Rwandans but also riders from neighbouring Burundi, Tanzania and Uganda.

Since then it has become an international race with riders from far away countries such as the USA challenging the Rwandan riders on their land.

Last year’s edition was won by Eritrean Natnael Tesfazion who claimed the converted title after Daniel Teklehaimanot in 2010 and Merhawi Kudus in 2019.

Rwandan Moise Mugisha, who was riding for local outfit Skol Adrien Cycling Academy (SACA), finished second while Patrick Schelling of Israel Start-Up nation finished in the third place.
