Ugandan international Savio Kabugo has parted ways with his Ethiopian club Sebeta Kenema on mutual consent.

Ugandan international Savio Kabugo has parted ways with his Ethiopian club Sebeta Kenema on mutual consent.

Kabugo, who joined Sebeta from AS Vita in October 2019, had four months left on his one-year contract.

The defender confirmed on Friday that he will not be with the Ethiopian side in the next season after agreeing with the club to terminate his contract.

“Due to the pandemic, Sebeta FC and I had to make some tough decisions. We have come to a mutual agreement to terminate our contractual relationship,” reads a statement posted on his Facebook page.

“I would like to thank the club president, coach and his technical team, my teammates and our beloved fans. It has been a great experience winning and losing together and I wish you the very best Sebeta FC.”

The 25-year-old guided Sebeta to the Addis Ababa Inter-City Cup runners up finish behind St.George.

He also helped the team seal a respectable 10th place finish in the Ethiopian Premier League that was cancelled due to coronavirus pandemic.

Kabugo has previously turned for Sports Club Victoria University, KCCA, SC Villa, URA FC, Proline FC in his native Uganda and AS Vita in Congo.

He is already being linked with Kenyan Premier League giants AFC Leopards ahead of the 2020/2021 season.
