The Atlas Lions piped the Chipolopolo of Zambia 3-1 in the third quarter-final match. The clash took place at 1900hrs CAT on Sunday at Stade de la Reunification in Douala.

Soufiane Rahimi opened the scoring a minute in before Mohammed Al Bemammer nodded the second on the eighth minute.

Zambia were reduced to ten men on the 22nd minute after Zachariah Chilongoshi was sent off following a bad foul on Abdelilah Hafidi.

Morocco were awarded a penalty in the 39th minute when Paul Katemba handled the ball in the box. Ayoub El Kaabi stepped up to take the penalty and made no mistake to convert the spot-kick to give his side a 3-1 lead.

Zambia managed a consolation in the 79th minute with a goal from substitute Moses Phiri.

Morocco will now face hosts Cameroon at the semi-final stage on February 3rd at the Limbe Omnisport Stadium.

In the second quarter-final game of the day, Guinea eliminated Rwanda in a mouth-watering encounter.

The Syli Nationale scored the only game of the match on the 60th minute from resultant free-kick after Rwanda keeper Olivier Kwizera was sent-off.

Mohamed Kanfory Bangoura’s men played most part of the match with 10-men after midfielder Mory Kante received marching orders following his hard tackle on Rwanda captain Jacques Tuyisenge.

Guinea will now take on Mali at the semi-final stage on Wednesday at Japoma Stadium in Douala.
