Carlinhos Terminates Contract At Tanzanian Side Yanga

Yanga Sports Club have confirmed that midfielder Carlos Sternio Fernandes ‘Carlinhos’ has packed his bags and left the club with immediate effect.

Carlinhos has cut short his stay with Sundowns, just nine months since arriving from Angolan side GD Interclube, with the club explaining the decision for the parties’ separation.

“The management of Yanga wishes to confirm they have reached a mutual agreement to terminate the contract of Carlos Sternio Fernandes ‘Carlinhos’ with immediate effect,” read part of the statement from the club.

“The decision has been reached after the player approached the club’s management and requested to be released and after holding talks between the two parties involved, they have agreed to end the deal on mutual ways.”

The 26-year-old’s time at Jangwani was marred by injuries as he failed to make an impression similar to that at Interclube, where he made a name for himself as a prolific midfielder.

Instead, he managed just five goals in 21 appearances across all competitions this season, and had gone for months.

“Yanga will like to thank Carlinhos for his dedication towards the club while he was with us and also wish him well in his next move outside Yanga.”

The announcement also comes just mere days before Yanga square off with Simba in an Vodacom Premier League re-scheduled fixture.
