Cardiff City Signs Former Arsenal Striker Marouane Chamakh to Complete Third Signing in Two Days

With about three months left to open the January transfer window, Cardiff City’s new Coach Neil Warnock has turned his attention to veteran out of contract players to revive the championship side after a terrible start to the season.

Cardiff have completed the signing of former Arsenal striker Maurouane Chamakh who was released by Crystal Palace at the end of last season.

The Moroccan forward started his English carrier in fashion at Arsenal scoring seven goals in his first eight appearances. Chamakh also broke the record for Arsenal’s fastest goal in history before injuries plus the long goal drought almost killed his carrier.

Chamakh scored only one goal in his second season (2011-12) with the Gunners and quickly fell out of favor, triggering a brief loan move to neighbors West Ham — which lasted three games. He then joined Crystal Palace in 2013 up-to last year.

The 32-year-old player must be happy rejoining his former manager Warnock who kept his faith in the attacker during his short 2015 Crystal Palace stint.

Chamakh brings experience up front, a lethal air attack and will provide the much needed support to Rickie Lambert who has been their top scorer with only 2 goals.

Cardiff have also added former Leeds Captain, Ivory Coast International Sol Bamba who left the whites earlier in the season due to personal reasons.

Bamba has featured twice for Ivory Coast in the World Cup with over 44 caps for his country. He played 32 games last season for Leeds as their Captain and scored 5 times in the process. The 31-year-old defender will definitely add stability, experience and depth in Cardiff’s defense.

Warnock also added another free agent Junior Hoilett to the Blue Birds roaster which makes it three signings in just two days. The fast Canadian Winger is looking to re-invent himself and start rebuilding his carrier at Cardiff will surely among the Championship players to watch this season.

Meanwhile, according to Metro Sport, Cardiff has confirmed to be in talks with Neil Warnock and a deal is highly possible after Warnock promised to have at least one more player before the derby next week.
