Cameroon’s government have parted ways with Piccini Group, a construction company tasked to build president Paul Biya’s stadium.

The organisation had been given the deal but fell short of meeting on the agreed deadlines for the completion of the site, according to the Central African nation’s leadership.

In the version of Cameroon’s sports ministry who arranged the deal, Piccini halted the work without consent of the government including “accumulation of workers wages.”

Piccini, who have built venues in Europe and the Americas are yet to issue a communiqué narrating their side of the story.

The decision to cancel the contract followed an inquiry over the state of affairs by the Confederation of African Football ahead of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
