CAF Omits Malian Referees For Zamalek V Generation Foot Second Leg Clash

Africa football governing body, CAF has opted to replace Malian officials- Mamadou Keita, Baba Yomboliba, Nouhoum Bamba and Goussou Kane with Cameroonian officials for the Africa Champions League rearranged second leg clash pitting Zamalek and Generation Foot due to technical reasons.

Kadre Saleh Kana of Chad was chosen alongside the four Malian officials to oversee the game but CAF has replaced the officials with a team from Cameroonian officials. Alioum Alioum, Elvis Guy Nguegoue, Sanda Oumarou, Jeannot Franck Bito and Mahamodou Jawula will now officiate the tie.

The two sides will be face-off on Thursday, October 24 in Cairo after Generation Foot failed to show up for the initial tie which was billed for Saturday, September 28 at the Petrosport Stadium.

The Senegalese side protested to CAF stating that they weren’t happy about the decision to change the venue to Borg El-Arab Stadium which was 24 hours before kick-off.

CAF’s Organising Committee for Inter-clubs Competitions and Club Licensing System were forced to call a meeting on Tuesday, October 8 at the CAF headquarters in Cairo and disclosed the new date and time for the rescheduled fixture.

In the first leg clash, Zamalek lost against Generation Foot 2-1 on September 14th as Mostafa Mohamed’s 74th-minute goal reduced the deficit for the White Knights.

The winner of the first-round tie will progress to the Champions League group stage, while the losing side drops down to the CAF Confederation Cup.
