CAF Dismisses Tunisia’s Protest

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) through its Organising Committee of the Africa Cup of Nations Cameroon 2021 has dismissed the protest lodged by the Tunisian team.

Tunisia lodged an official protest over referee Janny Sikazwe’s actions after he ended the match in the 85th minute, rescinded his decision and then blew his final whistle again in the 89th minute.

After gathering “all necessary reports” from match officials, the Organising Committee met on Thursday to deliberate on the match report after which it dismissed the Tunisian team protest.

The committee also decided that “the match result stands as 1-0 in favor of Mali,” CAF said in a short statement late Thursday.

Mali will take on Gambia in their second Group F match at the Limbe Omnisport Stadium on Sunday, while Tunisia will be hoping to record their first win in the group when they face Mauritania in the second kickoff at the same stadium.
