CAF Cup Holders Raja Plagued by an Injury Crisis

Moroccan league giants Raja Casablanca are grappling with an injury crisis with five of their stars on the treatment table.

Libya international Sanad Al-Urfali, Mahamoud Benhaleb, Abdul Ilah al-Hafizi and Omar Botip are all sidelined on the fringes with Gabonese Abdul Jaleel the latest to join the long list of injuries.

The capital-based outfit bit the dust to Gabon’s Cercle Mberi in the second-leg in Libreville in the Total CAF Confederation Cup last Saturday.

Gaffer and Spaniard Juan Garrido’s charges are seated second from bottom in the domestic league even though they have played fewer games owing to the just concluded Confederation engagement.

The injuries come as a major setback for a club looking to rival longtime nemesis and leaders Wydad.

Up next for the Greens is a showdown with third-placed Youssoufia Berrechid on Wednesday.
