CAF Confirms Nigeria as Host of Confederation Cup Final

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed that Nigeria will host the CAF Confederation Cup final scheduled for Friday, May 20.

The Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, the home of NPFL side Akwa United, in Uyo will host the final.

Nigeria beat other six other bids to host the tournament and the venue was given a pass mark by CAF officials last week after they deemed it worthy to host the continent’s interclub competition.

DR Congo’s giants TP Mazembe have one foot in the final after beating RS Berkane of Morocco 1-0 in the first leg of the semi-final.

The Ravens will likely meet South Africa’s Orlando Pirates if they see off Berkane. The Sea Robbers beat Al Ahli Tripoli of Libya 2-0 in the first-leg.

Benin hosted the last season’s CAF Confederation Cup final in Cotonou where Morocco’s Raja Club Athletic beat Algerian side, JS Kabylie 2-1.
