Namibia Premier League champions African Stars will do everything possible to win the match in the first leg of the preliminary round of the CAF Champions League.

Namibia Premier League champions African Stars will do everything possible to win the clash against Comoros side Volcano Club in the first leg of the preliminary round of the CAF Champions League on Tuesday 27 February 2018 at Stade Said Mohamed Cheikh, Moroni.

Speaking moments before departure from Windhoek, head coach Roberts Nauseb noted that every player knows what he needs to do in order to ensure the team gets a comfortable win in Moroni and avoid conceding any goals.

Stars head into the match just five days after a 1-0 loss to Eleven Stars in an NPL match, but Nauseb has stated that his players are ready for the Tuesday’s battle.

“After our defeat to Stars, the players came back all fired up to training. I think the defeat hurt them a bit so I’m pleased with the way they have responded,” he added.

The return leg match between the two teams will take place in Windhoek on 4th or 5th December, where the aggregate winner will progress to the first round of the Champions League where they will take on the winner between South Africa’s Orlando Pirates and Light Stars from Seychelles.

The winner of the first round encounter will then progress to the lucrative group stages of the competition, where 16 teams will compete in four groups of four each.

The top two teams will progress to the quarterfinal knockout stages, while the bottom two teams, although being eliminated, will receive US$550 000 each.

The losing quarter-finalists will receive US$650,000 each and the losing semi-finalists, US$800 000 each.

The champions will receive US$2.5 million and the runners-up US$1.5 million.
