CAF Awaits Match Officials Report on Premature Ending of Tunisia vs Mali Match

Confederation of African Football (CAF) Thursday said it is gathering “all necessary reports” from the match officials in the Africa Cup of Nations match between Tunisia and Mali played in Limbe on Wednesday 12 January 2022.

Zambian referee Janny Sikazwe blew the final whistle to end the match in the 85th minute before restarting play, and then ending the match in the 89th minute again.

CAF said it is forwarding all documents to the competent bodies of the continental football body and is not in the position to make further comment “until the responsible bodies indicate the way forward.”

Sikazwe, an international referee since 2007, had to be escorted off the pitch after ending the game.

Mali won the match 1-0 through a Ibrahima Kone’s penalty.
