Bwalya Injured In training, Doubtful For Simba Game

Al Ahly are set to miss the services of striker Walter Bwalya when they take on Simba SC in the final match of CAF Champions League group stage on Friday.

The 25-year-old is still feeling discomfort from an injury suffered during the team’s training game on Wednesday.

The development will force coach Pitso Mosimane to make a late decision on Bwalya’s participation in the match with Al Ahly still hoping to have him for the tie.

Al Ahly are yet to confirm the results of medical checkups conducted by their doctors but according to reports they will decide his fate in a late test set to be conducted at the same time on Thursday.

Bwalya’s absence will be a huge blow for the Red Devils as the team go up against the Champions League group stages’ leading strike duo of Clatos Chama and Luis Miquissone.

Al Ahly’s match against Simba in Cairo is however of mere formality as both teams have made to the last eight of the competition.

In the other Group A match, Al Merreikh of Sudan are set for a trip to Kinshasa where they will face AS Vita in a dead rubber showdown, with both teams already eliminated from quarterfinal contention.
