Burkina Faso: AS ECO Involved In A Bus Accident

Three players of Burkina Faso Division Two side AS ECO were critically injured following an automotive crash that occurred on Saturday afternoon.

Three players of Burkina Faso Division Two side AS ECO were critically injured following an automotive crash that occurred on Saturday afternoon.

The team was travelling to honour a league fixture in Terchriba where they were scheduled to face Dedougou FC.

The club bus reportedly veered off the road near Dedougou trading centre along Koudougou-Dedougou after hitting bumps in an accident that is believed to have happened around 1 pm.

“Players of Burkina Faso D2 side AS ECO had an accident along Koudougou-Dedougou road on their way for their league match against Dedougou FC,” tweeted Ablam Gnamesso as translated from French.

“No fatalities reported but three players were seriously injured. Quick recovery to all affected.”

Dedougou police are investigating the cause of the accident, including the possibility that the driver was tired after many hours on the road, or was speeding.

Burkina Faso clubs typically travel these long distances over bad roads to honour league fixtures, and vehicle accidents are not uncommon.

Drivers are hence urged to exercise caution when driving and should exercise all traffic rules and follow them to the letter.
