Brentford Target Impressive Stade Rennais Captain Hamari Traore

English Premier League side Brentford have reportedly developed an interest to sign Mali international Hamari Traore.

Traore has developed himself as a dependable defender for French Ligue 1 side Stade Rennes since his 2017 move and the Bees are said to have lately added him to their wish list for the next season.

The 30-year-old right back, who is also Rennes team captain, has made 41 appearances in all competitions this season so far.

Traore’s contract is set to expire in June and is not likely to renew, meaning he will walk out of the Red and Blacks as a free agent.

Traore has made 287 appearances and scored five goals in European football since moving from JMG Bamako to Belgian club Lierse in July 2013.

He left Lierse for Reims in 2015 but suffered relegation in his first season in French football despite emerging as the ‘discovery of the season’.

Traore has been a key member of the Mali national team since he made his debut against Burkina Faso in 2015.

He played for Mali at the 2017, 2019 and 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, the Eagles crashing out of the group phase in the former while reaching the Round of 16 in last two editions of the competition.
