BREAKING: Eto’o Accused of Bribery in Cameroon FA Elections

Former Barcelona hit-man Samuel Eto’o is at the centre of allegations of bribery in his native’s football elections.

Former Barcelona hit-man Samuel Eto’o is at the centre of allegations of bribery in his native’s football elections.

Joseph-Antoine Bell, a candidate for the Cameroon FA (Fecafoot) presidency, yesterday claimed the former Chelsea striker attempted to bribe him to withdraw from the polls.

The erstwhile African Footballer of the Year is reportedly backing Seidou Mbombo Njoyan, and according to reports in Yaounde, attempted to talk Bell to opt out on the understanding he will be given the technical director role if Njoyan wins.

64-year-old Bell, an ex- Indomitable Lions’ goalkeeper with spells at Marseille, St Etienne, and Bordeaux in his heydays, appeared on L’Arene Canal 2 to make the allegations and released messages purported to be from the striker to back up his claims.

However, Eto’o has rubbished the assertions saying Joseph-Antoine approached him instead proposing a negotiation.

Cameroon’s FA is currently being run by a Normalisation Committee installed by FIFA to regularize football there.
