Binga Roll Sleeves For Gigantic Zanaco Fight

Mali’s Binga FC faces an acid test in their quest to make it to the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup when they play Zanaco FC of Zambia in the play-off round on Sunday.

Binga progressed to the playoff round after eliminating ASFA Yannenga by whipping them 7-6 on post match penalties.

The Malians arrived in Lusaka on Friday night in their maiden air trip as they had travelled by road and mini bus to fulfill their away fixture in Burkina Faso.

But new head coach Modibo Sissoko and his players will have a mountain to climb when they face the 2019 CAF Confederation Cup quarterfinalists, who were eliminated from this season’s CAF Champions League by Al Merreikh of Sudan at second preliminary stage.

Sissoko says the team has prepared well for the game and remains optimistic they can battle for a first ever qualification to the group phase of the competition.

“We are building up the momentum well and are looking to work even more as the days progress. The spirit is there and everyone is willing to perform and work hard. We are looking forward to a good performance on Saturday,” said the tactician.

The two sides have never met previously in an official CAF competition, with Binga being debutants.
The match will kick off at the National Stadium at 13h00 GMT on Sunday, with the return leg scheduled in Bamako one week later.
