DR Congo giants AS Vita on Wednesday elected celebrated writer Bestine Kazadi to serve as the new club president.

DR Congo giants AS Vita on Wednesday elected celebrated writer Bestine Kazadi to serve as the new club president.

Kazadi garnered 38 votes to beat Diomi Ndongala with a comfortable margin in an election held during the club’s Annual General Meeting held in Kinshasa.

Kazadi has pledged to support the club to greater heights as she starts a new journey for the once-feared AS Vita.

Vick Dunga was at the same time elected to serve as the club’s vice-president while Frank Likuli will be the new General Secretary.

AS Vita finally managed to hold the elections after Gabriel Amisi resigned from his position as president of the club. Amisi was at the helm of the club for 13 years and at one time served as the Chief of Staff of the DR Congo Defense Forces.

The new boss Bestine Kazadi was born in Belgium to Congolese parents. Her father, the late Kazadi Tshishishi served as president of the Vita Club Sage Council.

A Social Science and Law graduate, Kazadi is a registered legal practitioner and owns a law firm in Kinshasa despite being a writer.

She now becomes the 36th president of AS Vita and first woman president to head a football club in DR Congo.
