The former Aalborg BK played joined Chinese Super League side in 2017 after winning the last edition of Africa Cup of Nations.

Although the 24-year-old has been on somewhat of a decline over the past few years, he believes he is now at a stage in his career where he can really enjoy his football at the top level.

Bassogog also for the first time reacted to Confederation of African Football (CAF) decision to withdraw Cameroon from hosting the previous edition of Africa Cup of Nations.

He stated that the decision was “unfair”, but again he respects the decision made by leaders of African football.

Bassogog also spoke about his ties with Cameroonian football legend Samuel Eto’o, stating that he is the hero who inspired him in his footballing career.

“Few people know this but [Samuel Eto’o] is someone who inspired me because we left the same neighbourhood in Douala.”
