Barcelona Going After 19-Year-Old Congolese Striker

Champions of La Liga, Barcelona, are reportedly keeping tabs on Guy Mbenza, a Congolese striker.

The 19-year-old hotshot’s performances in the Tunisian Premier League haven’t gone unnoticed and one of the sides intrigued by his brilliance is Barcelona.

Spanish outlet Foot Mercato claim Eric Abidal, the Catalan club’s director is ardent on watching the sensation having been impressed by preliminary write-ups by scouts dispatched there to monitor the forward.

The Camp Nou outfit’s La Masia academy is known for its production of global stars and Barcelona’s idea is incorporating Guy into their youth team quickly to get him acquainted with the club’s playing philosophy, first thing when his signature is captured.

The mention of Barcelona should be enough to ward off interest from elsewhere amid reports Major League Soccer teams also asked about the attacker.

Mbenza has a deal with Stade until June 2021 and is valued in the region of 600,000 euros, a sum of which could soar with Barca reported to be in the picture.
