Bangoura’s Mulhouse Stay Cut Short

In a surprise turn of events, former Al-Raed striker Ismael Bangoura is a free agent after leaving French Ligue 2 outfit FC Mulhouse.

In a surprise turn of events, former Al-Raed striker Ismael Bangoura is a free agent after leaving French Ligue 2 outfit FC Mulhouse.

Bangoura was released by Raed in November after the two parties failed to agree to the terms for a new contract.

The 35-year-old ex-Guinea international spent a short spell without a club, during which rumours were rife that he could be on his way back to France to re-join Nantes.

However, the rumours were dispelled when he earned a move back to France, signing a short-term deal with second division side FC Mulhouse at the start of last November.

With the summer transfer window now on the horizon, it has been confirmed that Bangoura will now be eligible to join the club of his choice after obtaining his clearance.

“FC Mulhouse has parted ways with Ismael Bangoura. The contract with the Guinean striker was terminated on mutual agreement,” reads a document obtained by Ducor Sports.

“FC Mulhouse wishes Bangoura good luck in his future career.”

Reasons for the diminutive attacking midfielder’s departure not yet known, after he initially denied reports that his contract had been terminated.

During his brief spell at Mulhouse, Bangoura managed only one goal and four assists in 9 league appearances.

Bangoura started his professional career in France with Gazelec Ajaccio and went on to play for three other French clubs Le Mans, Rennes and Nantes.

He also played in Ukraine for Dynamo Kyiv, in UAE for Al Nasr and in Qatar for Umm Salal.

Bangoura made 52 appearances for Guinea, scoring 13 goals. He played in three Africa Cup of Nations and helped Guinea reach the quarter-finals in 2006 and 2008.

His last appearance for the Syli Nationale was against Uganda in November 2014 in a 2015 Nations Cup qualifier.
