Bangoura Satisfied With Zambia Draw

Guinea head coach Mohamed Kanfory Bangoura has expressed his satisfaction despite his side being held to a 1-1 draw by Zambia in an African Nations Championship finals Group D match held on Saturday.

Syli Nationale midfielder Victor Kantabaduno scored what looked like the winner for the West Africans in the 58th minute until Spencer Sautu headed in an equalizer with just three minutes remaining at the Limbe Stadium.

Bangoura said they did everything against the southern Africans but are nevertheless content with a point.

“We got into the game with the strategy of dominating possession, but Zambia played well. I am satisfied with the draw,” said Bangoura.

The experienced tactician further claimed that the result is behind them and are now planning for their upcoming match as they seek to return to winning ways.

“Nothing has stopped us yet, we wanted to win but we got a draw, they also wanted to win but they did not win as well. We are in a good position going into the last group game against Tanzania.”

On the other hand, Zambia coach Milutin “Micho” Sredojevic drew positives from the match ahead of their last group game fixture against Namibia.

“We wanted to win but managed a draw against a strong Guinea team. I am happy that we created more scoring chances today than we did in our first game against Tanzania and the small details basically decided the match. It has been a clash of titans,” said Micho.

Guinea will travel to the Stade de la Réunification in Douala to face Tanzania in a must-win much as Taifa Stars beat Namibia 1-0 on Saturday.

Zambia and Guinea maintain their places at the top of the group with four points apiece, having won their opening matches last Tuesday.
