Bandari are the 2019 FKF/SportPesa Shield Champions after edging out defending champions Kariobangi Sharks 3-1 in an entertaining final played at the Kasarani Stadium, Nairobi on Sunday.

The match was played for 45 minutes after it was called off on Saturday evening with the Dockers leading 2-1 from the first stanza.

Congolese forward Yema Mwana netted a brace in the 2nd and 26nd minute while skipper Patillah Omotto halved the deficit for Sharks at the stroke of the hour mark before the torrential rains pounded.

Second half substitute Benjamin Mosha scored with six minutes left of the rescheduled half to send traveling Bandari fans into a frenzy.

It was all Sharks with the earlier action as Kapaito rose high to connect with a corner kick only to draw a save from Nkata Junior with a header.

A run down the wing by Duke Abuya ended up in a cross to Harrison Mwenda, but the former Mathare United winger was unable to finish off as he guided the effort wide of the target.

William Muluya’s men were relentless in trying to sustain the pressure from Bandari, who continued pressing ahead as Kapaito missed a free-header from close range following a cross by Sidney Lokale.

Great work from Mazembe into the middle found him on the end of a chance at the back post off a Mwendwa cross, but the end result failed to hit the target.

A slick interchange of passes on the other end almost put Kenga through on goal but Teka stopped him in his tracks with 65 minutes played.

Gad Matthew was called into one notable piece of the action on the 70 minutes, coming quickly off his line to dive bravely at the feet of Yema Mwana as the speedy attacker got in behind Sharks’ defense.

With six minutes to play, Bandari took advantage of a poor piece of play and substitute Benjamin Mosha killed off the game as a contest.

The 2018/2019 Kenya Premier League runners up thus take home a Kshs 2 Million ($20,000) bounty, as well as a chance to represent the country in the 2019/2020 CAF Confederations Cup.
