Bafana Coach Hugo Broos Names Final Squad For Friendly Matches

South Africa national team, Bafana Bafana, coach Hugo Broos has named the final squad that will face Guinea and France in international friendlies later this month.

Six players have been omitted from an 29-initial man squad that is set to camp in Paris, among them Kaizer Chiefs forward goalkeeper Brandon Petersen, Cape Town City Mduduzi Mdantsane, Golden Arrows’ Pule Mmodi and Rivaldo Coetzee of Mamelodi Sundowns.

Athenkosi Mcaba, who has featured in just eight PSL games in his career, has been included in the  final squad, that also has Mamelodi Sundowns left-back Lye Lakay.

South African will be returning to football since they lost 1-0 to Ghana in their final World Cup qualifier in November last year.

Coach Broos stated that the two matches improve his players’ experience level and gain crucial answers on where Bafana need improvement.

“After the World Cup qualifiers ended [last year] we thought about it and what we had to do in the March Fifa date. From the beginning I said, ‘Don’t bring Botswana, I need big teams’,” Broos said in an interview with SABC.

“There was Ivory Coast and Burkina Faso, and then France came.

“I think France will play 80% or 90% of their top players, but I’m sure the coach will also use the match to try some players.”

Bafana will face Guinea, instead of Zambia, as previously stated, in Belgium on Friday, 25 March before facing France four days later in Lille.
