AS Kigali Sack Coach After Loss To Rayon Sports

Rwanda National Football League side AS Kigali has sacked head coach Eric Nshimiyimana following the loss to Rayon Sports.

The ASK confirmed in an official statement that Nshimiyimana’s assistant has also left the club with immediate effect.

AS Kigali failed to move on top of the table after suffered an “embarrassing” 2-1 result on the hands of eighth-placed Rayon Sports and as a result sacked Nshimiyana and his assistant.

“AS Kigali announces that Eric Nshimiyimana has been relieved of his duties as head coach of the club as well as his Assistant Mr Jabir Mutarambirwa,” the club said in a statement.

“It is with regret that we have reached this difficult decision. While the past few weeks have been disappointing, they should not obscure all the work he has done over the past years to rebuild the foundations for long-term success.

“We thank him and his Assistant for the Work they have done with the Club.”

Former Rwanda national team head coach Jimmy Mulisa will be placed in temporary charge, with the club also suggesting their intention to appoint a new manager in the coming days.

Mulisa, who was part of the famous Amavubi squad that played at the 2004 Africa Cup of Nations in Tunisia, retired from competitive football in 2014 after nearly ten years as a professional player at different clubs in Europe and Asia.

Prior to his 2005 move to RAEC Mons in Belgium, Mulisa was at APR FC for four seasons where he scored 16 goals in 40 appearances.
