Guinea Ligue 1 giants Association Sportive Kaloum have appointed little-known Louncey Mara as the interim head coach following the death of Antonio Dumas.

ASK, on their official Facebook page, said Mara, who has been in charge of several teams in the West African country, will take on the role until the end of the season.

Mara has been tasked to achieve good results in his first three months for the club which has won only two of their five league games played.

His appointment comes four days after the sudden death of Brazilian coach Antonio Dumas in hospital in the capital Conakry.

The club have vowed to keep to the elite standards that Dumas set months ago when he stepped into the position as the coach, vowing to ‘continue to build on the real standards and foundations’ Dumas set in place.

The priority is completely on ensuring the welfare of the players.

Mara is currently in charge of team training and will be at the dugout when ASK plays Santoba FC in a matchday six league match over the weekend.

Unconfirmed reports indicate Mara will eventually be retained as one of the assistant coaches.
