Al Hilal Up In Arms Seeking to Have Referee Replaced

Sudanese side Al Hilal have appealed to Confederation of African Football (CAF) decision to appoint Moroccan referee Radwan Jaid for their decisive Africa Champions League match against Egyptian giants Al Ahly.

Sudanese side Al Hilal have appealed to Confederation of African Football (CAF) regarding its decision to appoint Moroccan referee Radwan Jaid for their decisive Africa Champions League match against Egyptian giants Al Ahly.

The Blue Wave and the Red Devils will face off in a Group B fixture on Saturday, February 1 2020 at the Omdurman Stadium to decide who makes to the knockout stages of the competition.

The club formally lodged a complaint via a letter to CAF insisting that they are convinced that the decision to have Jaid, a referee they have questioned before and has been ‘unfair’ to them, is not right.

“Al Ahly board express its resentment for the complete ignorance shown by CAF towards Al Hilal by appointing Moroccan referee Radwan Jaid for the decisive game against Al Ahly in the group stages final round,” Al Hilal wrote in a statement.

[perfectpullquote align=”full” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””] “Al Hilal expresses its sorrow for this unjustified persistence on hiring this referee. It represents complete injustice. The club confirms that it has filed a complaint to CAF regarding the appointment of this referee.”   [/perfectpullquote]

The reason that Al Hilal management and fans are mad is that they seem to lose every game that Jaid has been involved in.

The Moroccan has officiated three games that the club has been involved in at continental level in recent years. The most recent one was against Etoile du Sahel where the arbitrator awarded three penalties to their opponents.

Al Hilal and Al Ahly are tied on the second with nine points and they will require a win at the weekend in order to qualify to the quarterfinals.
