Ahmad Ahmad Dismisses Rumours of 2nd Term Desire

CAF President Ahmed Ahmed has dismissed rumours that he has indicated that he will stand for 2nd term as CAF president.

CAF President Ahmad Ahmad has dismissed rumours that he has indicated that he will stand for 2nd term as CAF president.
There have been media reports that the incumbent president who assumed the position in March of 2017 has a desire to run for the second term despite several allegations of fraud and corruption at the African football body.
Dismissing the rumours via Twitter, Ahmad said he is focused on the mitigation of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic that has so far claimed the lives of over 1,400 persons on the continent.
“Today, several media announced my application for a second mandate of CAF’s presidency. I am fully focused on the #Covid19 crisis management. When I’ll make my decision, I will let you know,” he wrote.
Recently, the world football governing body FIFA announced that it will shortly distribute USD 500,000 operational funding to all it’s member Associations, including Africa’s 54 member associations without any preconditions, but subject to audit.
The next CAF election is expected to be held during the first quarter of 2021.
