The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has set dates for the semis and final of the 2019-20 Champions League campaign.

The prestigious tournament was halted in March due to Covid-19 pandemic which as of August 2, has killed more than 679,000 people globally.

According to a statement sent to media houses by CAF on Monday, the African Champions League semi-final matches will be played over two legs on a home and away basis.

The two semi-finals feature Moroccan clubs against Egyptian opposition as Raja Casablanca take on Zamalek, while Wydad Casablanca meet Al Ahly.

The first leg of both ties will be played in Morocco on September 25-26, with the returns in Egypt on October 2-3.

The final match of the continental club tournament will take place on 16 or 17 October but under certain conditions determined by the continent’s football governing body.

In case the two Egyptian clubs or Moroccan clubs progress to the final, the one-off match will be played in either Egypt or Morocco.

In that regard, CAF has asked the concerned Member Associations, Egyptian Football Association and the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, to confirm by 15 August 2020 their availability to host the one-off match.

African Champions League final was set to be played in Cameroon but the nation recently stated it was not ready for hosting the remaining matches of the competition because of coronavirus pandemic.

Before the spread of coronavirus, the football’s governing body in Africa named Douala city to host the Champions League final.
