African Champions League: Kaizer Chiefs Held As Al Ahly Win

South Africa giants Kaizer Chiefs were held to a goalless draw by Angola’s CD Primeiro de Agosto in the African Champions League second round first-leg while Egypt’s Al Ahly began their title campaign with a win over  Niger’s Sonidep yesterday.

Chiefs dominated the clash against the Luanda giants at the FNB Stadium but were unable to utilize the home advantage.

Khama Billiat had found the back of the net for Amakhosi midway through the first stanza with a close-range finish but the goal was disallowed for offside.

Agosto goalkeeper Tony Da Costa had to come to his side rescue in the dying minutes of the second stanza, tipping Lebogang Mayama’s shot at goal out for a corner.

In Niamey, holders Al Ahly put one foot in the group stages of the prestigious competition after beating hosts Sonidep 1-0 in a match played at General Seyni Kountche Stadium.
