AFCON 2023 Qualifiers: Lesotho vs Cote d’Ivoire Match Postponed

The Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match between the Likuena of Lesotho and the Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire  has been postponed.

Lesotho were scheduled to meet Cote d’Ivoire in the 2023 AFCON qualifiers Group H clash at the Dobsonville Stadium in Soweto on June 7

The development was announced in a communiqué issued by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), on Monday 9 May.

According to a statement seen by Ducor Sports, CAF revealed that the match has been postponed on the request of the Lesotho Football Association (LeFA) in order to allow the Likuena have a proper time for recovery after from their first match of Group H against Comoros set for June 3 in Moroni.

The Veselin Jelusic’s charges will now face the Elephants at Dobsonville Stadium on June 9th while their opening match of Group H against Comoros in Moroni remains unchanged on June 3rd at 16H00.

Lesotho secured a spot in the Group phase of the qualifiers for the 2023 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations  following a 3-1 aggregate victory of Seychelles.

The Likuenas was pitted alongside the hosts Cote d’Ivoire, Comoros, and Zambia in Group H of the second phase of the qualifiers.
