AFCON 2019: Egypt, Senegal And Morocco are Desabre’s Favourite to Win

Uganda national team head coach Sebastian Desabre has named the three favorite teams that could possibly win the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Cranes secured their place in the upcoming AFCON as they currently sit at the top of their qualifiers group with 13 points, eight points clear of second-placed Tanzania and nine from third-placed Lesotho.

Their final group stage game will take place on March 24 against Taifa Stars in a match set to be played at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam.

However, coach Desabre believes that Egypt, Senegal, and Morocco all have a bigger chance of winning the tournament.

“Egypt are one of the favorites to win the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations,” Desabre told Sada El-Balad.

“Senegal are also a very strong side and have a number of very special players, and I consider them favorites for the title as well as Morocco,” he added.

Uganda are currently ranked 16 in Africa and 77 in the world, and Desabre emphasized that Uganda is going to achieve a beautiful performance in the competition.

CAF’s flagship tournament will be held in June and July 2019 in Egypt.

On November 30, 2018, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) stripped the hosting rights of the tournament from Cameroon due to lack of infrastructure and awarded them to Egypt.
