AFC Leopards have beefed up their squad ahead of 2019/20 Kenyan Premier League campaign by signing seven new players.

Leopards performed dismally during the 2018/19 season and have now moved to bolster the playing unit as they look to perform better next season.

Among those signed is the Rwandese duo- defender Soter Kayumba who has made his move from Sofapaka permanent and former Kiyovu midfielder, Vincent Habamahoro.

Malian striker Ismaila has finally moved to Leopards. He was initially set to join the club in 2016 but the deal failed to materialize. Ugandan keeper Benjamin Ochan and Burundian midfielder Tresor Ndikumana have also joined the Andre Casa Mbungo coached team.

The two local players signed by the team are Hansel Ochieng a striker from Nzoia Sugar and Sony Sugar defender Robert Ayala.

“Today we are unveiling seven new players who are joining the den. We believe that their presence in the team will give us a cutting edge as we embark on the new season, ” Leopards chairman Dan Shikanda stated in a video posted by the club.

Leopards have already lost winger Jeffari Owiti and defender Yusuf Mainge. Keeper Jairus Adira is expected to join Posta Rangers and Shikanda revealed that the team will sign two or three more players to replace those leaving.

“We still expect two or three players to join our club since we lost three players two of whom move to Europe and one is seeking a release to join a local club,” he added.

Leopards is currently pitching its pre-season camp in Mumias.
