AFC Leopards Slapped With 2 Transfer Window Ban

Kenyan Premier League giants AFC Leopards have been slapped with a two-transfer window ban for failure to pay their former player Vincent Habamahoro USD 17,000 (Ksh 1.7million).

Kenyan Premier League giants AFC Leopards have been slapped with a two-transfer window ban for failure to pay their former player Vincent Habamahoro USD 17,000 (Ksh 1.7million).

Ingwe were slapped with the ban by FIFA after a failure to reach an adequate financial settlement with the former midfielder in December 2019.

Rwandese Habamahoro, who went on to sign for Kiyovu Sport, took his case to FIFA and it was deemed strong enough for world’s football governing body to take action.

Now that they have failed to honour the FIFA’s order, Leopards have been given a transfer ban which prohibits them from signing new players, both nationally as well as internationally for the next two transfer windows.

The ban will only be lifted when Ingwe pay Habamahoro the amount due in accordance with the decision of the FIFA Dispute Resolution Chamber order dated Feb 3, 2021.

Habamahoro walked out of the club after he reportedly went for four months without pay. Soter Kayumba, former head coach Casa Mbungo, Ismail Diarra and Tresor Ndikumana were the others who left AFC Leopards in that period of financial turmoil.

Ingwe are currently third on the FKF Premier League on 29 points from 16 matches and hope to scale higher heights if they outfox log leaders Tusker FC who have two matches in hand.
