Micho Denies Sexual Assault Allegations

Zambia national team head coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic has denied allegations that he sexually assaulted a woman during the ongoing COSAFA Games in Port Elizabeth South Africa.

The 51-year-old appeared at New Brighton Magistrate’s Court for the case mention before being released on R10,000 bail ($660).

National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson Anelisa Ngcakani told reporters that Sredojevic allegedly assaulted a 39-year-old woman who was serving him coffee.

Speaking to BBC, Sredjovic responded to allegations denying he did so and said that his legal team is dealing with the case.

“(These are) total baseless accusations intended to unsettle Zambia team that has not conceded goal on this tournament (COSAFA Under-20 Cup),” Sredojevic told BBC Sport Africa.

The controversial Serbian gaffer will appear again court on 25 February next year.

This is not the first time Sredojević has been accused of sexual assault. In August 2019, a Johannesburg woman, who works as cleaner at Protea Hotel Wanderers in Illovo, accused the coach of exposing himself to her.

Sredjovic was appointed the coach of Zambia national team in February on a two-year deal, just months after leaving Egyptian Premier League side Zamalek by mutual consent.
