Kariobangi Sharks Deny Coach Exit Rumours

Kenyan Premier League side Kariobangi Sharks have denied rumours doing rounds that they have parted ways with their coach William Muluya.

Sharks chairman Robert Maoga reportedly spoke to a Kenyan journalist and claimed that the club had relieved the youthful coach of his duties.

However, the former FKF Shield champions have denied these reports, indicating that the 33-year-old will not be shown the door.

“William Muluya is still our coach and we have not made any decision regarding his future. All the rumours going around are false,” a highly placed source at the Sharks camp told Ducor Sports.

Kariobangi Sharks finished the 2019/2020 KPL season on 12^th position with only 20 points from the 23 matches that were played before the league was put to an end amid coronavirus pandemic.

Muluya took over the Kariobangi based outfit in 2016 from Mathare United and steered the team to KPL promotion after finishing second in the National Super League in the 2015-16 season.

He guided the team to a third-place finish in their debut Kenyan Premier League season which saw him feted as the best coach of the year.

Under his watch, Sharks won FKF Shield in 2018, booking a spot to play in the CAF Confederations Cup where they were bundled in the second qualifying round by Ghanaian giants, Asante Kotoko.
