Tunisian Club Head Banned for 2 Years for Assaulting a Local Referee

ATunisian club president is due to serve a twenty-four-month suspension for attacking a referee, Ducor Sport can report.

Slah Ben Amor, in a fit of rage, made for the arbiter in Etoile du Sahel’s drab stalemate affair with mid-table occupants Chebba last weekend.

Amor, according to reports in Tunis, stormed towards the referee before raining assaults on him, prompting security into frog-matching him to the exit.

The organisers did not mention laws they relied on to impose the punitive measure nor talked about reviewing video images, insisting also he pays a US$3,500 fine.

Ben Amor is expected to appeal the verdict before February’s end.

In a separate but related occurrence, the disciplinary body has also slapped a two-game ban on Union Sportive Monastirienne’s president Mohamed Khaled Bouzgarrou with an additional US$1,700 fine for hurling invectives at a referee.
