Cameroon Goalkeeper Linked With A Move To Spain

Cameroon international goalkeeper Carlos Kameni has been linked with a transfer move to Spain from Turkey.

According to several Spanish media outlets, the former Malaga custodian is set to sign for Granada CF from Turkish side Fenerbahce.

Kameni returned to Spain after spending two seasons with Fenerbahce where he terminated the contract on mutual interest after complaining of lack of playing time.

However, a top agent with the player insists they are not sure which club the striker will play for next season.

“We are still not sure where Kameni will play and I have not heard anything from Spain. Maybe yes…maybe no but we are still searching,” the agent told Ducor Sports on Wednesday.

Kameni previously featured in La Liga where he spent eight seasons at Espanyol before moving to Malaga, where he spent a further five seasons.

A Cameroonian international since the age of 17, Kameni was part of the national team squads at the 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008 and 2019 Africa Cup of Nations tournaments but failed to make any appearance in Mali 2002 and the recent event in Egypt.

In addition, he also represented the nation at the 2003 FIFA Confederations Cup, as first-choice where they emerged runners-up.

He was named the Best African Goalkeeper for 2006–07 after being a runner-up in the previous season.

He was also in the team that participated in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. Kameni last played for Cameroon in a game against Niger for the 2018 World Cup qualifiers.
