Cameroonian Goalkeeper Sacked by South Africa Club

Cameroonian goalkeeper Amour Patrick Tignyemb has been sacked by his South Africa Premier Soccer League side Bloemfontein Celtic after he was accused of insulting club officials.

Tignyemb left the club on Tuesday hours after getting involved in an abusive rant at the club offices while demanding outstanding bonuses from club chairman Max Tshabalala.

Reports indicate that Tignyemb represented players in talks called by the club’s management after they put down their tools last week to force the club management to pay staff members their salaries.

“Patrick came to the office around 3 pm or 4 pm. And then whatever altercation he had at the office‚ that was what resulted in him being terminated‚” Celtic’s chief executive Khumbulani Konco told Times Live.

The Siwelele players went on strike on Thursday last week in solidarity with the club’s staff members who have not received their salaries for the last three months.

The 33-year-old shot-stopper joined Celtic in 2008 and has played more than 300 games for Celtic in 10 seasons at the club.

Before joining Celtic he played for Tonerre Younde and Coton Sport in the Cameroon Premiere Division.

Celtic are scheduled to play against AmaZulu in their last match of the season this coming Saturday.
