Cameroon Football Federation Elects Seidou Mbombo Njoya as New Chief

Seidou Mbombo Njoya has been elected as the new president of the Cameroon Football Federation (Fecafoot).

Njoya won by 46 votes against his close rival Joseph Antonie Bell, who garnered 17 votes out of the 66 votes cast during the federation elections held in Yaounde on Wednesday.

Mongue Nyamsi came a distant third with three votes while Hervé Tchinda and Manouang Kessack, a former Indomitable Lions midfielder, got no votes.

Franck Happi had pulled out of the race moments before the election in favor of Joseph Antoine Bell, but that was not enough as Njoya still emerged the winner.

The new football chief is the former director of the FIFA’s Central African sub-regional office and former chief of protocol of former CAF President Issa Hayatou.

He also once served as Vice President of the Cameroon Football Federation under Iya Mohammed as well as head of the international football commission at Fecafoot.

Cameroonian football has been under FIFA normalization committee for the past four years after the Cameroon National Sports and Olympic Committee’s arbitration chamber annulled the election of Tombi A Roko Sidiki in 2015.

Njoya is expected to be sworn in on Monday next week, marking the end of the mandate of the Normalization Committee.
