BREAKING: Zamalek’s Mortada Banned for Insulting CAF Boss

Zamalek FC’s president Mansour Mortada has been slapped with a one-year ban from all football-related activities for insulting Africa’s football boss Ahmed Ahmed.

A lawyer by profession and arguably the most controversial football chairman in North Africa, Mansour incurred the wrath of CAF after he directed uncomplimentary remarks toward the Cairo-based organization.

Mortada vented spleen on CAF’s secretary general and president for apparently overlooking Al Ahly fans’ attack on a Saudi football official during a Champions League match.

Fans blamed the Saudi official Turki Al-Sheikh for the recent clash in the Super Cup asking him to cease investing in Egyptian football. According to reports, he has since sold off his Cairo home.

In an explosive television rant, the 66-year-old Zamalek boss called CAF’s SG Amr Fahmy drunk.

“The insults [of Ahly fans] are caused by Amr Fahmy (CAF Secretary General), the boy who established the Ultras and who is always drunk. If you are not drunk 24 hours a day come to me and I will do a test for you,” he said, threatening to rent the African body’s headquarters.

“I am not a footballer to be banned. If they imposed any sanctions on me, CAF wouldn’t exist anymore in Egypt. I will take their headquarters in Cairo and rent it,’ he bluffed.

The 2011 Egypt presidential-hopeful’s remarks did not understandably sit well with CAF who banned Mortada for 12 months coupled with a $40,000 fine.

The North African club supremo’s latest jibes are perhaps the height of it after a controversy-marred campaign throughout last season.
