Moncef Khemakhem has resigned as president of eight-time Tunisian premier league title winners Sports Club Sfaxien.

Moncef’s resignation followed incessant demands for his exit by supporters virtually all season.

Sfaxien’s fortunes have taken a nosedive under Khemakhem’s tenure after failing to win the domestic championship for five years.

Moncef’s decision to call it quits leaves a void on the club’s board in the middle of the ongoing season with an elective congress now billed for the coming weeks.

Sfaxien are perched at third place in the 14-team league standings at fifty-two points –four points between them and holders Esperance de Tunis.
