Former Burkina Faso international Ben Idrissa Derme, age 34, suffered a heart attack while playing for Corsican club AJ Biguglia a six-division team in France. The match was the third round of the French cup.
The central defender dropped to the floor just after the second half had kicked off and despite the quick arrival of medical teams, they were unable to revive him during several minutes of on-field efforts.
According to report, Derme previously played for the likes of US Ouagadougou, USC Corta, CA Bastia , EF Bastia, Sevilla and Ajaccio. In a tribute to the late defender, Sevilla and Ajaccio paid their respects via twitter:
