Zesco Coach Lwandamina Linked With Black Leopards Job
George Lwandamina has been linked with to the vacant Black Leopards head coaching job.
Insiders told Ducor Sports on Tuesday afternoon that the South Africa Premier Soccer League side are preparing a 'special offer' in an attempt to lure the Zesco United head coach to replace Lionel Soccoia who was sacked on Monday.
Soccoia was relieved of his duties following a dismal start of the season. The French coach only took the reins at the end of last season after the resignation of Dylan Kerr, who saved the Thohoyandou-based side from relegation on the final day of the season.
Lwandamina is among those shortlisted for the Leopards job, with the 'Lioda Duvha' reportedly willing to offer a monthly salary of a whopping $120,000 which is more than his current salary.
The 56-year-old Lwandamina who is in-charge of Zesco since April 2018 on his second stint, guided the Zambian giants to the semi-finals of the CAF Champions League in 2016.
Ducor Sports also understands that Luc Eymael is among the coaches Leopards are interested in bringing on board should officials fail to agree on terms with the flamboyant Belgium who recently parted ways with Free State Stars.
A source within the club has however told Ducor Sports that nothing has been finalized yet; "The names have been mentioned but there is nothing solid yet."
"There will be a meeting where that will be discussed before a decision is made. We will go for someone who will help the team continue developing."
Leopards are currently sitting 12 on the log with one win out of five matches. They have drawn once but worryingly they have lost three matches for a tally of four league points so far this season.
Leopards are expected to announce the new coach on Friday and he will be expected to hit the ground running as they are preparing their next game against Stellenbosch FC .
