Senegalese Wrestler Lac II Suspended for One-year

Senegalese wrestler Lac de Guier II has been slapped with a 12-month ban by the Senegalese Wrestling Federation, Ducor Sports understands.

The decision to impose a suspension on the heavyweight wrestler came on the back of comments the star made last month following his defeat to Modou Lo on referee’s decision.
Lac lost to Lo based but voiced dissatisfaction over the handling of the combat.

The Guediwaye-based wrestler, in an outburst, accused the referee of favouritism and expressed anger over the Federation’s move to fine seven million CFA –the largest sum ever to be subtracted from a wrestler’s price money.

Lac said, seething in the aftermath of the bout.

He questioned how money deducted from wrestlers is spent by the traditional sport’s governing entity. The remarks did not seat well with the Federation who opened disciplinary proceedings and subsequently imposed a one-year ban on Lac. Muhammed Ali, Lac’s manager, yesterday reacted to the verdict, pleading for the wrestling body to exercise clemency.
“We accept we’ve made a mistake. We regret it and ask for forgiveness,” Mouhamed Ali, said.
