Rugby championship: South Africa Dismantled by New Zealand

The springboks have been whitewashed 57-0 by New Zealand in Albany. The South Africans offered no reply to the 57 points (8tries) in a performance that has been described as disastrous.

It was a one sided performance from the start with New Zealand awarded a penalty 15 minutes into the game. A few minutes later it was 8-0 and it went downhill from there on. The springboks were 31-0 down by half time with no sign of come – back.

The world champions showed no mercy as they continued to add salt to the injury. Barrett brought down the curtain with his conversion to bring the score to 57-0.

This has been the springboks’ first defeat in the competition after drawing with Australia last weekend.

Despite the thrashing, South Africa remains second on the standings table.
