Nigerian Club Accused of Attempting to Bribe A Referee, Kicked Out of CAF

It’s the end of the road for Nigerian current league champions Plateau United in the Caf Confederation Cup after losing to Algerian side USM Alger.

Plateau went in the run-up to the second-leg with a 2-1 win. Alger, fifth in the Algerian Professional Ligue Une, turned the tie around to go past the play-offs into the Confederation Cup group stage.

Gaffer Kenedy Baboye whose side are being accused of attempting to bribe South African referee Victor Gomes in the first-leg – a crime they’re being probed for –suffered a huge 4-0 humbling.

From get-set-go, The Reds and Blacks were on the Nigerians and the pressure-piling worked up a trick in the 28th minute as Oussama Darfalu smacked in the first goal.

The second came four minutes into the second period when Kadour Beldjilal left the visitors’ keeper rooted to the spot with a delectable effort.

It was by now a damage limitation exercise for the Nigerians after Mohamed Benkhemassi latched in the third goal and the fourth nine minutes from time.
