Ivorian Races Past USA’s Justin Gatlin in Diamond League Final in Zurich

The 2017 IAAF Diamond League has got to be one of the biggest upsets for many fan favorites but also an impressive finish for its winners.

USA sprinter, Justin Gatlin finished in fourth position while Ivory Coast’s Ben Youssef Meite missed by a fraction to win gold in a close-to-call 100m final in Zurich.

Meite was beaten to the Diamond Trophy as well as $50,000 winner’s cheque by Great Britain’s Chijindu Ujah in 9.97 seconds to finish in the second position.

35-year-old Gatlin whose return embarked on an attempt to make him the oldest 100m champion in the eight-year period of the League was joined by South Africa’s Akani Simbine as the only London finalists to race in the Diamond League. Simbine finished in the sixth position.
