Former Real Madrid and Wales Coach fired after embarrassing CAF Champions league defeat

Former Wales and Real Madrid former coach John Toshack has been fired by Wydad Casablanca as their manager just after two seasons. The shock decision came after Wydad Casablanca suffered a shock 4-0 defeat to Zamalek in the first leg of the CAF Champions league semi-final.

According to a statement from the club website today 17th September, the manager’s contract has been terminated with immediate effect. The 67-year-old is well known for his disciplinarian coaching style and no nonsense attitude and open criticism. He once criticized Madrid’s Argentine goalkeeper for letting in goals “that let him weep”

After taking charge in June 2014, Toshack led the Moroccan side to the league title and a runners up spot in his second season.

He has also coached Swansea City, Sporting, Real Sociedad for three seasons, Real Madrid for 2 seasons, Wales for around 7 years, Deportivo and Beşiktas.

He went on to join Saint-Étienne, Catania, Real Murcia, Macedonia, Khazar Lankaran, before joining Wydad Casablanca in Morrocco.
